A root/edge client, a fast-scaling player in the global infrastructure and energy space, is looking for a Director of Data Center Development to lead strategy and execution for new data center projects across North America. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who can bridge technical development, energy procurement, and long-term sustainability goals.
Youâll set the vision and lead cross-functional teams to secure sites, power, and permits, while keeping financial performance, regulatory compliance, and ESG goals front and center. Lead end-to-end development of large-scale data center projectsâfrom concept through completion.
Create and execute strategy around site selection, power sourcing, and long-term capacity planning.
Partner with utilities, renewable energy providers, and government entities to secure low-cost, sustainable power solutions.
Drive compliance with local, state, and federal requirements, including grid interconnection and environmental permitting.
Champion energy efficiency, innovation, and sustainability in facility design and operations.
Build and mentor a high-performing internal development team.
Report on project status, budgets, and market trends to executive leadership.
A proven track record developing large, technically complex data center or critical infrastructure projects.
Deep expertise in U.S. energy markets, interconnection processes, and renewable procurement (PPAs, RECs).
Strong knowledge of permitting, zoning, and regulatory frameworks (LEED, NEPA, carbon neutrality goals).
Executive presence and leadership experience guiding multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Bachelorâs degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
