Engineering Supervisor

Position Summary

The Engineering Supervisor will provide a combination of technical expertise and leadership support to both project teams and senior management. This role involves supervising a team of engineers and designers while balancing hands-on project work with strategic leadership responsibilities. Key duties include leading engineering projects, serving as the responsible charge, managing project schedules, and contributing to staff development, recruitment efforts, and business growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering staff.
  • Review and validate work completed by junior engineers and designers.
  • Lead the resolution of technical challenges through engineering analysis and problem-solving.
  • Oversee and approve timecards, expense reports, and assist with performance evaluations.
  • Support recruitment efforts through interviews and candidate evaluations.
  • Contribute to business development and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Manage client projects, including project planning, execution, and engineering oversight.
  • Perform engineering work under responsible charge, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership to align project goals.
  • Participate in staff training and career development planning.
  • Maintain consistent communication with stakeholders on project status and team performance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Supervisory Duties

  • Directly manage a team of engineers and designers.
  • Approve timesheets and expense reports.
  • Support performance reviews and career development planning.
  • Participate in recruiting and interviewing prospective team members.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical or Civil) from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred: Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as a practicing engineer or equivalent role.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Required: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is mandatory for Transmission and Substation Engineering Supervisors.
  • Preferred: P.E. license preferred for Distribution Engineering Supervisors.

Other Requirements:

  • Consistent and regular attendance is required.
