Land Acquisition Manager

Houston $120,000 - $135,000 Permanent

Position Summary

A fast-growing, independent renewable energy company is seeking a Land Acquisition Manager to support utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. This role will be part of a collaborative land acquisition team, focused on securing additional land rights—including but not limited to parcels for project expansion, interconnection easements, and access agreements—for projects currently in active development.

The ideal candidate is an experienced land professional with a background in renewable energy or related infrastructure sectors. They will be a proactive communicator and negotiator with a hands-on, detail-oriented approach and the flexibility to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct landowner outreach, lead negotiations, and secure surface rights and agreements to support utility-scale energy development.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, development, and land teams to ensure seamless coordination throughout the acquisition process.

  • Support and manage third-party relationships, including outside counsel involved in contract review and negotiations.

  • Provide regular reporting and documentation of land acquisition activities across multiple projects.

  • Identify and flag land-related risks or challenges and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.

  • Travel required up to 70% of the time.

  • Support other duties as needed by the project or business priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, energy management, real estate, or related field.

  • 8+ years of land acquisition experience, with a strong preference for experience in utility-scale renewable energy development.

  • Prior in-house experience with a developer, utility, or energy-focused organization is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of land ownership principles, title research, and the impact of mineral rights on surface development.

  • Demonstrated experience negotiating a variety of land agreements; corporate landowner negotiation experience is a plus.

  • Familiarity with real estate contract terms and ability to quickly interpret legal documents.

  • Working knowledge of the full project development lifecycle in energy or infrastructure.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM systems and GIS tools is preferred.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across projects.

This is an opportunity to join a mission-driven organization working to accelerate the energy transition. The company is committed to responsible development and long-term project ownership, with an emphasis on collaboration, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.
