Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations – Substation to oversee the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of substation infrastructure for a leading power and energy organization. This role is critical for ensuring operational excellence, safety, and compliance while driving strategic growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop substation operations teams, providing strong field and organizational leadership.
  • Manage all phases of substation projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and execution.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, quality controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Offer technical guidance on both civil and electrical aspects of substation design and construction.
  • Maintain a visible field presence, supporting crews with practical, solution-oriented direction.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Provide clear, timely communication on project status, addressing and resolving stakeholder concerns.
  • Champion continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and innovation across substation activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years in construction or project management with a focus on substation operations.
  • Leadership: Proven track record managing field crews and delivering large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of utility processes, substation systems, and safety protocols.
  • Field Expertise: Hands-on substation experience with progressive operational career growth.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and financial oversight capabilities.
  • Tools: Proficiency with project management platforms and related software.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Prior leadership at the district manager or director level strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Must be able to communicate clearly, stand, walk, handle tools or equipment, and reach with hands and arms during fieldwork.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather, construction site conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and moderate-to-high noise levels is expected.
