An established developer of large-scale energy and transmission infrastructure projects is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Substation Engineering to oversee the design and delivery of high-voltage substations supporting renewable generation, energy storage, and transmission assets across the Southwest.
This is a key leadership position for an experienced engineer with a strong background in HV/MV substation design, interconnection, and project execution. The ideal candidate brings both deep technical expertise and the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects from early development through construction.
Manage and provide technical oversight to external engineering partners and consultants throughout project lifecycles.
Lead the development, design, and delivery of HV substation components for major renewable and transmission projects.
Develop, monitor, and manage detailed project schedules to meet critical milestones.
Coordinate with interconnection teams, utilities, and system operators to support technical submissions and agreements.
Maintain a working knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and best practices (IEEE, NESC, etc.).
Produce and review specification documents, meeting notes, reports, and presentations for both internal and external audiences.
Contribute to a collaborative team culture while maintaining autonomy and accountability for assigned deliverables.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state.
15+ years of experience in substation engineering, including 3+ years in a project management or leadership role.
Proven track record managing 345kV and 500kV substation projects.
Familiarity with utility interconnection processes and related regulatory documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage effectively with engineering, development, and construction teams.
Based in (or willing to relocate to) the Phoenix, AZ area.
