Founded in 2024 and backed by leading climate and venture investors, the company already holds a nine figure contracted order book covering more than 10 GW of new capacity for US utilities, data center developers and renewable developers.

About This Role

This is a hands on senior design seat. You will own the electrical design of power and distribution transformers, including HV units at 230kV and 345kV, taking a customer RFQ, turning it into a design that meets spec and hits cost, and staying with it through factory test. You will work directly with US customers, sales engineering, mechanical and controls engineers, and the partner factories. Your designs ship in months, not years.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the electrical design of power, substation and distribution transformers from concept through manufacturing and test, including 230kV and 345kV class units
• Review US customer RFQs and specifications with sales and produce compliant, competitive quotes with cost and execution risk clearly identified
• Prepare design calculations, drawings and technical reports to IEEE, ANSI and IEC requirements
• Use modeling and simulation tools (Ansys Maxwell, Andersen, MATLAB) to improve performance, reliability and cost
• Lead customer design reviews and technical calls, explaining and defending design decisions
• Support prototype and production builds, including factory testing, root cause analysis on manufacturing or field issues, and lasting design fixes
• Build internal design standards and processes as the engineering team grows

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in transformer electrical design
• Hands on design experience with HV power transformers at 230kV and 345kV, as well as distribution transformers
• Deep working knowledge of IEEE, ANSI and IEC transformer standards
• Direct experience supporting proposals, design and manufacturing for US utility or industrial customers
• Proficiency with simulation tools such as Ansys Maxwell, Andersen and MATLAB, and comfort in AutoCAD or similar
• Clear communicator with customers and cross functional teams

Preferred:

• Time spent on the factory floor and in test bays
• Advanced electromagnetic simulation experience
• Experience designing for a contract manufacturing model
