Overview
We are seeking a Manager/Director – Power Systems & Technology Integration to play a critical role at the intersection of power system studies and software innovation. This role is designed for a leader who brings deep expertise in transmission planning, generation interconnection, and system modeling, while also collaborating closely with software engineers and product teams to transform complex studies into scalable, tech-enabled solutions.
You’ll guide technical teams, support client projects, and serve as the bridge between traditional engineering practices and modern digital workflows. This is a leadership position for someone who is both a hands-on expert in power systems and a strategic collaborator with technology teams.
Lead Power Systems Studies: Oversee steady-state, short circuit, dynamic stability, and interconnection studies, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with Software Teams: Partner with developers and product managers to translate engineering needs into digital tools, automation frameworks, and scalable software solutions.
Modeling & Validation: Build, validate, and refine high-quality power system models using industry-standard tools (e.g., PSSE, PowerWorld, PSLF, PSCAD, EMTP).
Technical Leadership: Mentor engineers, review technical deliverables, and provide subject matter expertise across multiple ISO/RTO markets (PJM, MISO, ERCOT, SPP, TVA).
Innovation & Process Improvement: Explore and apply new methodologies (automation, AI/ML, digitization) to streamline study workflows and increase efficiency.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a trusted advisor to utilities, developers, regulators, and technology partners, ensuring alignment between project outcomes and client needs.
Standardization & Best Practices: Establish internal processes, training, and knowledge-sharing practices to ensure consistency and scalability of study work.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
10+ years of experience in power system studies, transmission planning, or interconnection (utility, ISO, developer, or consulting).
Proficiency with modeling tools such as PSSE, PowerWorld, PSLF, PSCAD, EMTP.
Proven track record of technical leadership — guiding teams, mentoring engineers, and engaging with clients.
Strong collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with software development teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Excellent communication abilities, able to distill complex analyses into clear insights.
Strategic mindset, with experience aligning technical work with organizational or client objectives.
Willingness to travel up to 25% for client and project engagement.
Familiarity with automation, data workflows, or AI/ML applications in power system analysis.
Exposure to product development cycles or experience collaborating with software/tech teams.
Knowledge of inverter-based resource (IBR) modeling and advanced study techniques.
Impactful Work: Shape how the industry connects power system studies with cutting-edge digital solutions.
Leadership Role: Guide engineering teams and influence software-enabled innovation.
Collaborative Environment: Work side by side with top engineers, developers, and product leaders.
Flexibility: Remote-first, with a culture built around trust and work-life balance.
Competitive Package: Strong compensation, benefits, and growth opportunities.
