Utilities Manager
Remote or hybrid in Denver, CO (preferred)
About the Company
We are a build-to-suit data center developer delivering scalable, high-performance campuses for hyperscale and cloud customers. Unlike traditional colocation operators, we develop on-site power generation for our facilities — which means we need to bring both fuel and electricity to our sites, not just grid power. We are a lean team on the cusp of our first major leases, with a focused pipeline and room for the right person to grow with us.
About the Role
This is a niche, high-impact role for someone who knows how utilities work from the inside. As Utilities Manager, you will own the process of bringing gas and electrical power to our development sites — from evaluating new land opportunities to negotiating with utilities and navigating their systems, tariffs, and processes. You will report directly to our Director of Power Solutions and work closely with our development and construction teams.
This is not a role for someone who relies on what the utility tells them. We need someone who can anticipate problems, identify gaps, and bring creative options to the table.
What You'll Do
Manage gas and electrical utility coordination across active development projects, from initial site assessment through delivery. Evaluate new site opportunities alongside our expansion team — assessing what power and fuel sources are available, what's feasible, and what it would take to make a site work. Navigate utility tariff structures, pipeline transportation and supply agreements, and interconnection processes for both gas and electric utilities. Build and maintain strong relationships with gas and power utility representatives, pipeline operators, and transmission stakeholders. Work independently to drive utility workstreams forward without needing heavy oversight. Anticipate utility-related risks and bring solutions before they become problems. Support project management and documentation across utility-related milestones.
What We're Looking For
Experience working at or closely with a gas and/or power utility is strongly preferred — someone who understands how these organizations operate, how deals get done, and how to navigate their processes. Familiarity with gas pipeline systems, transportation, and supply as well as electric utility procurement and interconnection. Ability to read and work through utility tariffs — this is a differentiator and genuinely hard to find. Self-sufficient and comfortable leading through ambiguity; this role requires independent judgment, not just execution. Some engineering or project management background is a plus. Data center experience is not required — the right person can learn our industry quickly.
Why Join Us
You'll be coming in at a defining moment — our first leases are nearly in place, and we have a small number of sites far enough along that you'll have time to get up to speed before the expansion work really accelerates. We're not trying to be the biggest developer in the market. We want steady, continuous work with a team that's still small enough for your contributions to matter.
