Role and Responsibilities

Operations

• Own the technical, financial, and operational performance of utility scale solar and battery energy storage portfolios, thinking and acting like an owner to drive availability, reliability, financial performance, risk mitigation, and long term value creation.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Asset Management teams, ensuring decisions and priorities align with client objectives, contractual commitments, and business goals.
• Lead the strategic and day to day activities of the asset management practice.
• Evaluate the performance of team members in collaboration with department leadership, and provide tangible professional development opportunities across the practice while monitoring employee progress.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines to streamline processes, ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, and optimize efficiency across the organization.
• Create and maintain a best in class company culture, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, diversity and inclusion, kindness, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices, providing recommendations for operational enhancements as needed.
• Develop and track annual department budgets.

Strategy

• Partner with the executive leadership team to provide financial insights and recommendations that drive strategic initiatives and business growth.
• Evaluate potential investment opportunities, mergers, and acquisitions, conducting due diligence and financial analysis to support informed decisions.
• Collaborate on the pricing of new client portfolios, ensuring revenues are sufficient to justify the costs incurred and achieve the targeted margins.
• Support the development of internal AI tools to improve and expand Asset Management services.
• Collaborate with department heads to identify and implement cost saving initiatives without compromising quality or the overall client experience.

Reporting

• Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, dashboards, and presentations to senior management.
• Support Asset Management teams with client and stakeholder communication and relationship management.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 8 to 10 years working in asset management, with a preference for candidates who have a strong commercial or technical background.
• Working knowledge of BESS technology fundamentals and key operating modes (energy arbitrage, ancillary services, EMAs).
• Experience managing PV and BESS safety and compliance requirements, incident response planning, and O&M readiness.
• Proven ability to manage PV and BESS stakeholders and contracts across OEMs, integrators, EPCs, and O&M providers, including warranties, performance guarantees, availability and LTSA terms, and change management.
• Experience with BESS operational and financial performance management (availability and forced outage tracking, degradation and capacity testing, cycle accounting, round trip efficiency, curtailment, dispatch compliance) and translating results into client facing insights.
• Understanding of storage participation in power markets and/or utility programs (for example, ISO/RTO rules, interconnection and dispatch constraints, revenue stacking, and settlement concepts) to support strategy and portfolio optimization.

Required Qualifications and Education

• BA/BS, preferably in a business or technical related discipline.
• Demonstrated high level competence in leading an asset management group.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

• Experience leveraging AI tools for Asset Management.
• Experience managing BESS safety and compliance requirements, incident response planning, and O&M readiness.
• Experience with BESS commissioning and acceptance testing, performance testing protocols, and dispute resolution related to warranties and performance guarantees.
