Position Title: Policy & Regulatory Affairs Analyst
Overview:
The Policy & Regulatory Affairs Analyst supports renewable energy and energy storage projects by conducting in-depth research into regulatory, policy, and incentive frameworks. This role focuses on identifying market opportunities and tracking changes across state-level and federal landscapes. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with a passion for energy markets, capable of distilling complex regulatory information into clear insights that drive strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and analyze regulatory and economic factors influencing renewable energy and storage development, including tax credits, interconnection procedures, net metering, community solar programs, state incentives, and utility rate structures.
Represent the organization in stakeholder meetings with policymakers, trade associations, industry groups, and regulatory bodies.
Track, evaluate, and summarize regulatory proceedings, utility filings, proposed legislation, and other market developments.
Translate regulatory and policy updates into actionable insights for internal teams, contributing to strategy and business development efforts.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal development, policy, and commercial teams to assess regulatory risks and opportunities in emerging and established markets.
Maintain up-to-date summaries of market rules, incentive structures, and utility-specific considerations across multiple jurisdictions.
Conduct research on electricity pricing, capacity markets, and energy attribute trends in both existing and new markets.
Monitor and interpret macroeconomic and energy market developments with relevance to clean energy deployment.
Curate and disseminate weekly policy updates and maintain internal resources such as state summaries and policy dashboards.
Assist with identifying new markets and business opportunities driven by regulatory shifts or incentive program changes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in public policy, economics, energy, environmental studies, or related field preferred.
1β3 years of relevant work, internship, or academic experience in energy policy, sustainability, economics, or regulatory affairs. Exceptional candidates with strong initiative and demonstrated interest will also be considered.
Familiarity with energy policy structures, interconnection processes, and key drivers of renewable project economics.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex regulatory topics.
Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Proficient in synthesizing research and communicating findings in a way that supports business or strategic planning.
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
