Job Description

Our client is a leading renewable energy company focused on distributed generation solar and battery storage projects. They develop, build, and manage assets across the United States. They are seeking a highly motivated Transaction and Diligence Specialist to lead diligence on project acquisitions and support project valuation, risk management and investment decisions throughout the solar development lifecycle. This is a strong opportunity to build experience across solar development, project acquisition, project finance and regulation in a high growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead diligence for portfolio acquisitions and development activities across site control, real estate and title, interconnection, engineering, survey, permitting, environmental, offtake, incentives and policy
• Coordinate and track key development deliverables with internal teams and external legal, zoning, environmental, interconnection and engineering consultants
• Serve as the main point of contact with development partners and project sellers, including owning the Q&A log
• Review and manage project contracts, including purchase agreements, leases, interconnection agreements and PPAs, to ensure compliance with their terms
• Provide transaction leadership for project financings and asset acquisitions, often managing multiple opportunities at varying stages at the same time
• Research and manage eligibility and compliance with federal and local incentives and policies
• Build relationships with local governments, AHJs, incentive administrators and consultants to understand local development and permitting processes
• Manage the development fee schedule, draft funding memos, verify milestone payments and coordinate payments to landowners and developers
• Track key deadlines, contractual obligations, incentive expirations and project risks, and report on budget, schedule and deliverables
• Work with the pricing team on underwriting models and make sure assumptions align with engineering models
• Verify insurance requirements, forecast property tax obligations, manage PILOT agreements and monitor purchase agreement adjusters
• Prepare presentations summarizing project research for stakeholder review

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience, preferably someone who has experience in solar
• Bachelor's degree required
• Strong project management, organizational and analytical problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills
• Highly organized and detail oriented, able to manage multiple workstreams in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
• Self starter with a high level of initiative and accountability
• Located in or willing to relocate in the greater Washington D.C. area and able to work on site five days per week
• U.S. work authorization without sponsorship
